I'm always playing catchup on this blog. So - what have I been up to? Working, obviously. I can finally say that book #7 in the Dylan Scott series, Fatal Vengeance, will soon be on its way to my editor. It just needs a polish … but I'm fairly confident the story itself stands up. Hmm. I hope so.
Away from the desk, I seem to have been quite busy too...
(The good…) A fortnight ago, I saw Leonard Cohen at Manchester Arena. This was the fourth time I've seen him perform live and he was awesome. Truly! Unfortunately, Manchester Arena is probably my least favourite venue. It's an anonymous, soulless place where stewards seem to enjoy herding you from one area to another. The first time I saw the Sainted One, he was performing at Edinburgh Castle. Not that is a venue!
(The bad…) On Friday, I was at a funeral. My lovely neighbour died and we all gathered to pay our last respects. Very, very sad and my thoughts are with her family.
(The downright ugly…) On Saturday, I thought Burnley FC were going to beat Blackburn Rovers for the first time in 34 years - or 10 games, whichever you prefer - but, once again, it wasn't to be. Turf Moor erupted when we scored but a mistake from one of our players (he's sent a thousand apologies to all fans and everyone involved with the club :o)) gifted them a scruffy equaliser. So it was a 1-1 draw … but the reaction from the fans showed who'd had the moral victory. Burnley fans left the ground feeling totally dejected and knowing the the team had played more than well enough to earn a win. Blackburn fans were so relieved to scrape a draw that they left the ground celebrating as if they'd just been crowned champions of Europe. It's a funny old game…
Today, I'm at my other home on the Not Your Usual Suspects blog. I'm talking about Dexter and I'm giving away a digital copy of Deadly Shadows over there. If you'd like to be the first, the very first person to read Deadly Shadows (apart from me and my editor), stop by and leave a comment. A winner will be chosen at random on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, have a great week!
