a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. (So said Groucho Marx.)
I had another delivery of books this week and as I'm running out of space, I'm considering opening a bookshop. I can see it now - big comfy armchairs, coffee machines always full, muffins always fresh and, most important, really good books.
On the subject of books, thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway and congratulations to the winners. Prizes are on their way to Katrina and Hilary. I'll be giving more books away soon. Watch this space.
So - have I had a productive week? No, but thank you for asking. I don't really have excuses either … except on Wednesday I had a dental appointment which sort of wrote off the day and on Thursday my car had to go to the garage for a service and MOT which wrote off another day. (Both teeth and car passed inspection. Bank account is still recovering.) Other than that though, I've been faffing. Faffing is such a wonderful word, isn't it? I think we should have a faffing day every week.
As you know, I went to "look" at some puppies last weekend. What I wanted was a predominantly black, calm, male Border Collie pup. And would you believe it? There was just such a puppy there! However ... there was also a manic pup with black spots on his white coat who rushed at me with a "Hey, great to meet you. Let's go wreck a house, round up some sheep, bite a few people and then think about breakfast, yes?". So guess which one is coming home in a fortnight's time. Yes, right first time.
Here he is perfecting his "butter wouldn't melt…" expression.
When he comes home he'll be 8 weeks old and will have gone off the whole idea of causing mayhem, won't he? Of course he will. He'll be calm, eager to please and keen to get to training classes. Or am I getting the worlds of fiction and reality confused again…?
What have you been doing this week? I hope you've all been ultra-productive - unlike me.
Have a great weekend, all. For those of you in the UK, I gather the weather is supposed to improve this weekend. That wouldn't be difficult, would it?
